For the global expansion of Japanese entertainment culture, REMOW Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Akira Ishii), a company specializing in the global distribution of video entertainment, and Nihon Eiga Broadcasting Corp. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takashi Ishihara), which operates the Japan Movie Channel and the Jidaigeki Channel—both consistently ranked among the top five CS pay TV channels in Japan (source: B-maga)—will jointly launch the FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) channel “24/7 SAMURAI-SHINOBI” on Prime Video in the United States on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Since 2022, the two companies have been distributing Japanese period drama content globally via their YouTube channel “SAMURAI VS NINJA*” with the aim of expanding awareness of Jidaigeki and cultivating new fans worldwide. With the launch of the new FAST channel on Prime Video, over 180 million Amazon Prime members in North America—as well as non-members—will have 24/7 access to a wide variety of Jidaigeki content. This initiative is expected to significantly broaden viewership and further grow the global Jidaigeki fanbase.
In addition, Nihon Eiga Broadcasting Corp. has produced SHOGUN’S NINJA, an action-packed, modern-touched Jidaigeki film directed by Koichi Sakamoto, known for his work on BLACKFOX: Age of the Ninja, which surpassed 17 million views on YouTube. SHOGUN’S NINJA is set to premiere on the “24/7 SAMURAI-SHINOBI” FAST channel on Prime Video on Friday, April 25.
The channel will also feature a rich lineup of both classic and contemporary titles, including Onihei Hankachou Honjo Sakurayashiki starring Koshiro Matsumoto (viewed over 1.5 million times on YouTube), and Shikakenin Fujieda Baian starring Etsushi Toyokawa (over 1.8 million views), alongside beloved series such as Zatoichi and Gokenin Zankuro, offering a rich mix of content for both long-time enthusiasts and newcomers to the genre.
REMOW and Nihon Eiga Broadcasting Corp. are expanding Jidaigeki distribution across multiple streaming platforms to bring Japan’s iconic historical dramas to global audiences. Their mission goes beyond just sharing these works—they are committed to supporting the creators behind them, ensuring their ongoing success. Together, they aim to solidify Jidaigeki’s place in the global entertainment landscape.
